Protea Hotel Addo, formerly Zuurberg Mountain Inn, is the latest addition to Protea Hotels in the Eastern Cape. Situated in the Addo Elephant Park, 72km by road from Port Elizabeth, this gracious 150-year old hotel is a peaceful and truly unique mountain top retreat.

Equipped to international standards, accommodation comprises 31 rooms (Zuurberg Village) and 5 suites (Zuurberg Manor), ensuring high levels of comfort, whilst a restaurant and bar offer gourmet food. A myriad of outdoor activities offer something for everyone, from a swimming pool to game drives. Families with children are welcome and we also offer a babysitting service.

Other facilities at Protea Hotel Addo include a chapel, conference venues for 60 - 120 GUESTS, undercover parking and car wash.

Accommodation at Protea Hotel Addo comprises 36 rooms and suites in 31 thatched cottages, 14 of which are new cottages and have:

  DINNING

Dining and leisure facilities at Protea Hotel Addo include a restaurant/breakfast room, serving a full Protea breakfast from 07h30 until 10h00; pub-style or a la carte lunch is available and a full buffet dinner is served from 19h00 until 22h00.

The Woodifields Bar and Lounge open from 11h00 until 22h00 and services the pool area, terrace and garden.


 
  HOTEL FACILITIES

Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, 2 all-weather tennis courts, a bowling green, childrens playground, pool table, board games, horse and hiking trails. Sunrise and afternoon Game Drives in the Addo National Elephant Park are also available.

Other facilities include undercover parking and daily car wash.

Two conference rooms are available - the Alexandra Room, with a dance floor and seating 120 GUESTS, is best suited for Gala Dinners and Banquets while the Coral Room, seating 60 delegates, is ideal for smaller functions, conferences and training seminars.
Protea Hotel Addo, formerly Zuurberg Mountain Inn, is situated in the Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape, 72km by road from Port Elizabeth. Proclaimed in 1931 to save the last survivors of the once numerous Eastern Cape elephants, the park consists of 12 126ha of Bushveld dominated mostly by the Spekboom, Portulacaria afra, which covers approximately 80% of the park area.

Addo Crocodile Ranch - has African crocodiles, Siberian Wolves, lion cubs and a tame camel
Mountain zebra, eland, kudu, bush buck, duiker, red hartebeest and other endemic game of the area can be encountered, as well as prolific birdlife - the Forest Weaver and Knysna Loerie to name a few. Rhino can be viewed at Darlington Dam after a rugged 4 x 4 trail. From indigenous riverine forests to mountain fynbos, the Greater Addo Park, incorporating the Zuurberg mountains, protects some of the last remaining vegetation of the region.

VALLEY FARM TOURS - Tours hosted by locals to working citrus farms of the area, where roses are also grown. Travelling past small trading stores and through lush orchards, glimpse behind the scenes into the rural life of this beautiful valley.

ARTS AND CRAFTS RAMBLE - Locals display their unique brand of craftsmanship in quaint valley shops with interesting names like The Orange Dog and Iets van Als.
