The brand new Protea Hotel Island Club opened in December 2004 and is the latest addition to Protea Hotels in the Western Cape. Located in a very upmarket residential complex/area with easy access onto the N1 and main highways, Protea Hotel Island Club is situated in one of the fastest growing business and residential areas in the Cape and offers 24-Hour security in the complex with access boom area for residents and GUESTS.

This 23 bedroomed hotel consists of 20 deluxe rooms and 3 suites, split between two blocks - the Majorca and La Savina - offering views of either the canal or breathtaking views of Table Mountain. All rooms are furnished with timber flooring and an open plan bathroom with frosted glass panels.

The Protea Hotel Island Club offers easy access to Canal Walk Shopping Centre, the biggest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere and only a few minutes away from the Dockside Club and Entertainment Centre.

The hotel provides fine dining facilities, including a breakfast room which is converted into a coffee shop and later, a bar area. The quaint breakfast room-cum-coffee shop has amazing views of the canal and shopping complex. The hotel swimming pool is located on the island area, adjacent to Half Moon Bay, with plenty of sunbathing area available.

The first 11 rooms opened during the 1st week of December 2004 in the Majorca block of the complex. In the La Savina block, approximately 200 metres from the admin and Majorca, the 12 new rooms are now open and fully functional.

All stylish and spacious rooms have 1 King-size bed, wall-mounted desk, 1 Mini Bar Fridge, microwave and self-catering facilities (including relevant equipment), laminate Timber flooring and free-standing bath and separate shower in an open-plan bathroom with frosted glass panels. Most rooms have spacious balconies overlooking Canal Walk (the largest shopping complex in Africa).
