From Bloemfontein:
Take Bethlehem Road to Clarens, into Golden Gate

From Durban/Johannesburg:

Travel on the N3 to Harrismith, then on N5 direction Bethlehem for +- 4kms.
Turn left towards Golden Gate and past Puthaditjaba onto Golden Gate National Park.
Hotel situated on left side of road, approximately 70kms from Harrismith

  ACCOMMODATION

Built in 1965 and renovated in 1997, the Protea Hotel Golden Gate Mountain Resort offers 34 standard hotel rooms and 34 two-bedroomed self-catering chalets also available.

The Golden Gate National Park is spread over some 11 600 hectares of highland habitat, providing a home to a variety of mammals such as Burchell`s zebra, eland, oribi, springbok and black wildebeest. Several bird species can be found here, including the rare bald ibis which breed on ledges in the sandstone cliffs, as well as the rare bearded vulture.

a bird hide at the Gladstone Dam
